I need help and advice please.

I am in zone 5, SW Michigan.

I bought a ginger - it is in the pot still, about 4 feet tall with 5 green sturdy stems and three brown skinny ones that are apparently dead.

I have a basement room that I keep my brugmansias in for the winter - temp around 43-45 degrees for dormancy.

Would it be ok to put the ginger down there in those temps? Will it go dormant? Does it need to? Should I cut the stems down? How far? What advice can you give me? I would appreciate any and all help!

Thanks Kiwi
