Butterfly ginger - inside under lights or dormant

I have a few Butterfly gingers. Last year I only had one, a peach, and I wintered it over inside under HID lights. About 5 stalks grew and bloomed, maybe a little too much. It was about 9' tall and took up quite a bit of space. I can't imagine several that size in the house this winter. Can I allow them to go dormant with my plumies and brugs in an unheated GH? If so what do I do? Do I cut back the foliage? Keep it in the pot and reduce watering or remove the rhizome and store it? They are all in bloom now but we'll be getting the first frost soon.
Thanks,

| you can let them go dormantin a unheated GH. Most of the hedychium are go to zone 7. You can cut it back or leave it on until it freezes. I just keep them in the pot and reduce watering. |

| I put my hedychiums just under a large high energy efficient light but I cut all the stalks down and just leave the small ones that are under 2 feet high - actually with any of my plants under lights I do this if the leaves get to large especially my brugs I just trim them back and let the smaller ones take over - in the spring around feb/march I will just let them grow out |
