White flowering H. densiflorum?

Last year I purchased rhizomes of two species of Hedychium at a nursery in NE-India. They were labelled H.densiflorum and H.gracilis. Both of them resemble H.densiflorum when not in flower: small slender pseudostems reaching up to 80cm, gracilis slightly taller and more arching. Now I have several of them in flower. The plants labelled H.gracilis are, as expected, flowering with small white flowers in slender spikes of only 10cm. But the plants labelled as h.densiflorum also flowered white! The only difference is the larger flower spike (up to 20cm) and the shorter filament compared to gracilis. Which species is it?
Btw: I have pictures of the two, but I don't know how to post them because they are only stored in my computer, not on the internet. Maybe I can email them directly to some of you? |

| I think you can post from either your home computer or from an on-line source such as Photobucket or Webshots if you choose to post uner "Galery". I did succeed in posting on the regular thing using a link to Photobucket, and you can downsize. if the pictures are too big there as well. They're supposed to be only about 60 kbts. I might be interested in a trade , but only have the Costus barbatus, and I'm not sure how well they'd flower in S.C. since I have trouble getting them to flower in Michigan with our short summers and even indoors lately. |
