Unopened flowers on Butterfly ginger

Posted by johnsaunt 7 (My Page) on

It's getting pretty nippy here at night and some of the ginger leaves are showing frost damage, so I was wondering if I cut off the stalks with unopened flower heads and put them in water inside the house, will they bloom?

Thanks,
Ginny

Some will bloom and some won't. But it's worth cutting some to bring inside. It seems that the ones that are the closest to blooming are the most likely to be developed enough to bloom once cut. And I've had really good luck with cutting blooms that have already partially opened.
