Replanting after digging up to move..???

| i dug up some gingers and heliconias for the move. when i got them down south to the new house i planted them right away. i notice all the foliage is withering and yellowing?? i dug them up and put them in water until i can find out what to do ?? is it best to pot them up for now?? if so, what soil mix do i use?? on some of the gingers i had to cut part of the stalk off to transport them. should i just left them like they until new growth appears?? i also thought best to pot them up as well for now?? thanks....cliff |

| Once you disturb the fine hairs on a heliconia's roots by digging it up, it usually drop kicks most of the old roots and grows new ones. You may just have to cut all your foliage off and let them resprout new growth. |

| By the structure of some gingers & heliconias plant cells , they do not store the water and therefore do not support to be moved without damage - cut the old foliage and just be patient until new roots grow ! Its why most of ginger & heliconias grow well near by the stream ! |
