Inconvenient Truth?

I just saw this movie this weekend and was wondering if anyone else had seen this? If so, what was your opinion of it?

Have you been to their web site?

They have a "carbon calculator" to measure about how much carbon you create each year. Mine was 8.75 tons/year, which it said was higher than average (7.5 tons/year).

What do you come up with?

Here is a link that might be useful: Climate Crisis

I haven't seen the movie yet.

I got a 4.75. Too bad these things can't get more detailed and specific to get a really good idea of one's impact.

1.35 :) I drive little, never fly, live where I work - pretty poor calculator tho - better is the eco footprint quiz

it is all about lifestyle, and the extravagance we've been raised on - uninsulated homes, inefficient heating and cooling systems, gas guzzling vehicles for the long commutes folks wind up having in order to live in the burbs and work in the city, vast expanses of lawn fed with petrochems, chopped weekly with gas mowers, gas trimmers, and gas blowers, consume, consume, consume

I think that docu-movie is a good thing, to get folks to think, but what we need to realize is there's no stopping what's happening, the best we can hope for is to slow down our contribution and gain the time to make some major changes in how we live, and where .... watch out for that investment in beach front property!

I'm embarrassed to say I haven't read the book nor seen the film. But I did just take the carbon-footprint test. It came out at 2.95 tons. We do our best, so I guess it really pays off. Oh, and I also bought a TerraPass for my car, so that might reduce our footprint a little more.

I haven't seen the movie yet, but I read the book. I was impressed. Most of this I knew before, but I liked the plain, clear way it was presented.

I don't drive or own a car, so my carbon footprint was pretty low.

I've read the book but have not yet seen the movie.

Glad to see my footprint came in at .95
