Organic cotton is so expensive......

| Yes, I know I should be buying organic, but what about all the cotton sheets I already have? Does anyone know if the agricultural chemicals used to grow the cotton remain in the cloth for a long time (or for ever)? Will it eventually wash out?

| I doubt you'll find any "agricultural chemicals" in your sheets - cotton is the "fluff" that sprouts around the plant seed heads at the end of the plants life - it's nearly pure natural cellulose, once it's processed to remove seeds, insect residue, protein, vegetable matter, and other impurities .... once it's made into cloth may be another story the main reason for prefering organic anything is for it's "lighter footprint" on the earth Bill |

| It's not just the agricultural chemicals (and I'm sorry but I don't have an answer for that). It's the chemicals used in the processing such as formaldehyde to give a no-iron finish and dyes (Europe has banned some azo dyes as carcinogens) and fungicides to protect the fabric during shipping. |
