recycling plastic grease containers from restaurants

My nephew worked at a restaurant and would bring home 5-galon plastic containers that once held grease. His mother wants them OUT of the house & has been dumping them because of the lack of recycling facilities in our area.

SO, I cut off the bottom & top and buried them into the ground. Now I'm planting my "evasive" groundcovers like Lily of the Valley in them to keep them from taking over the garden. I just bury up to the top in mulch.

Also, my sister is cutting off the bottoms and using them for mini-greenhouses when she plants in the spring. Here in our zone 3, you never know when it's gonna freeze.

I bet if you ask at your local burger & deep-fried grease joint, they will be glad to give them to you.

Wow what an awesome idea...I really like the green house idea, eventhough I have a small one I dont have heat in it so I am limited as to what I can do in it.
