We are doing something different this Fourth of July. Instead of buying fireworks and adding more pollution to our damaged eco-system. We are using our money to buy trees and shrubs. We do not lke the idea of buying chinese fireworks to pollute our earth. If they put fiberglass and such in dog and baby food just Imagine the caustic chemicals they put in the fireworks.

Planting trees and shrubs can be a worthwhile enterprise instead of celebrating any holiday.

However, I doubt the Chinese are trying to sabotage the fireworks industry; probably not a good delivery system for a nuclear warhead. LOL. The biggest risk is more than likely the idiots who mishandle them.

Fireworks contain (1) fuel - usually black powder or charcoal; (2) oxidizing agent - needed to provide the oxygen for the firework to burn: (3) reducing agent - usually sulphur or charcoal to burn the oxygen and produce hot gasses: (4) regulators - to regulate the speed of the action; (5) coloring agent - Strontium (red), Copper (blue), Barium (green), Sodium (yellow/orange), Calcium (orange), Gold (iron); (6) binders - usually a starch to hold the whole composition together.

So, Happy 4th of July!

You might want to wait before buying and planting unless you have a sale that is too good. By planting now in July plants are less likely to survive because of the stress of adapting to a new environment. Take your family to various nurseries and parks to see what is their and make a family project of mapping out what and where you are going to plant in late August or September.

Fireworks have been arround for centuries and are not messed with. Enjoy them while you can because many cities are not having displays because of money. If you look at what they contain most of the material is fertilizer of one type or another.
