How Green are they??

I use Seventh Generation cleaners (dishwashing detergent, dish soap, and laundry detergent). I also bought some Natural Choice diapers but have since potty trained my 2 year old. I saw a commercial today for Green Works (link below) with a new dish soap that is supposed to be green. I want to do the right thing, are these products really Green? Christy :)

I've used green works from Clorox, and it is an effective cleaner. I'd buy it again. It is very sudsy, however, and I am wondering if all that suds is so necessary. I can't find any literature to the contrary that coconut oil is green.

I believe these products are "green." The ingredients are natural, as opposed to many synthetics. However, I do not find Seventh Generation to be a very effective cleaning brand. I prefer ECOs and Method. I also tried the Green Works shower cleaner, and liked it much better than Seventh Generation.

I haven't read any labels or done much research on GreenWorks, but my gut feeling is that if it's from Clorox, it's not really green.

Thanks :) I don't find Seventh Generation to be very effective, either, but that is the only Green product sold at the Grocery Store. Thanks for the tip, I'll look for ECOs and Method. Christy

Method is easy to get if you have a Target close by. Other stores sell Method, but all Targets do, and carry just about every product Method makes. By the way, I find ECOs to make the best toilet bowl cleaner (even better than the synthetic chemical-laden products).

I picked up another bottle of the Green Works (Clorox) bathroom cleaner today. Unless the ingredients are incorrect or something is left out, it is environmentally friendly. I was hesitant at first, since the products are made by Clorox, but it seems geniune.

Maybe this will be of interest...

BTW, I did hear that many members of the Sierra Club were not happy with that group's endorsement of this product line.

First, I was wrong. It isn't ECOs product that I like most, it is Ecover. I discovered this while cleaning the bathrooms today.

Dee, thanks so much for the link! I'm a member of Sierra Club, and I thought I recalled the organization endorsing the product. As the article says, I believe some Sierra Club members are unhappy b/c on, it isn't perfect in that the ingredients used are still harvested and that may cause destruction of rainforest habitat. Also, I'm sure some members feel like Sierra Club is now endorsing "the man."

While in some ways, I don't like to support Clorox, at the same time, Seventh Generation isn't the best product for having bathrooms clean. I do like Seventh Generation carpet cleaner though.

Funny Sarah - when I first read your post, even though you said ECOs, I was thinking Ecover!

I use a lot of Seventh Generation products and I find them to work well. If I remember correctly, I think I was disappointed with the shower cleaner, but I also have to take into consideration the state of my shower, lol. I'm not about to clean it every day (have waaaaaay too many other better things to do, lol!) but with two teenagers, it needs it every day. So anyway, I have THEM scrub it once a week with baking soda. I think the "grittiness" helps clean it better. I just worry about it being slippery afterwards, but I warn them so many times that I think we're all aware of being careful now. At least I hope so!

Dee--Have you ever tried Method Daily Shower Cleaner? Perhaps you can give your teens a bottle of that to spray after they are done showering. I think it helps if you do use it every day.
