| Please take the time to review the following site. It shows how the use of plastic bags is sooooo out of hand.

I never realized the impact of this issue. |

I almost gasped out loud when I saw that poor bird totally enveloped in a plastic bag, with only it's beak sticking out. Poor thing. Thank you for this link. :) Dee

I can't seem to get into it - c&p won't work and when I typed in the address it got to the main page, but wouldn't scroll. Any suggestions?

Thank you so much for posting this. What a profound message. I'll say again how much I really don't like plastic. I don't see why we all can't ban plastic bags and WATER BOTTLES!! I hate those too.

I got it to work (am a bit computer impaired, you see!) and the statistics are staggering. That something as mundane as transporting purchased goods home has turned into such an environmental crisis is mind-bending.

I have sent this to everyone I could email it to. I'm surprised at the number of people that take a bag for just one item that could easily be carried otherwise. The U.S. needs to take steps NOW as the other countries have. Hello to ZigZag PASS THIS ALONG Kaaren

i think i've had this one also, makes me mad, we live on the corner, i have plastic bags in our yard that neighbors don't get into their trash can's or they just throw out the window or whatever, ticks me off. same with plastic bottles, and we get the privelage of picking them up!! i feel for the animals that get stuck in them!! its a real mess at times in the tree line. sigh!! ~Medo

Good idea christy. Get some attention! I was just reading that IF it ever happens that you must discard a plastic bag, roll it and knot it so that it can't take flight in the wind in the landfill and end up in waterways, etc.

Sometimes I hate living in LA. But then other times I love it! I am happy to announce that by 2010, Los Angeles hopes to ban all disposable plastic bags! Shoppers can either bring their own bags (yay!) or pay 25 center per biodegradable bag. I am happy that L.A. followed in the footsteps of San Francisco, and I think that this is definitely a step forward in helping us save our planet and keeping it clean! mandarin.mint http://gabwith.us/about/going-green/

That's great to see, mandarin mint. I just wonder why it will take 2 years to implement. I guess it's better than doing nothing. :) Dee

On a happier note, I find that cashiers are much more willing than they used to be to let me take my one or two items without a bag (when I've forgotten to bring my own). I think a larger percentage of the population is getting it.
