Lemon Squash is a squash, C. pepo, I believe, same as Papaya Pear, which it somewhat resembles. It is generally eaten as an immature summer squash. The vines can grow around 8 ft long. Spacing for vertical trellis is 8 in. Plant 2-3 seeds every 8 inches and thin to the strongest plant in each grouping. Good Luck.

I have never grown lemon squash but I bet if you let it mature fully it would resemble a gourd. I don't think there is a clear distinction between some summer squash and gourds. For instance I have grown crookneck squash before and when you leave them on the plant to mature they become dark orange and warty and certainly resemble a gourd at maturity. Also ornamental gourds are C. pepo as well as the summer squash.
