I have room for one more winter squash this year and want to try something new.

I currently grow butternut and delicata... what should I try next?

Thanks!

You certainly could not go wrong growing one of the standards--acorn, buttercup (kabocha), hubbard.

Does SF East Bay mean San Francisco? If so, why not try a c. maxima, as you don't have squash vine borers to bother you. As mentioned by brookw, hubbard and buttercup are good squash to try, and they're c. maximas. I can hardly grow them here. But when I've eaten them most c. maximas are superb.

Thanks for the recommendation folks. I also realized I could try some of these squashes now... Whole FOods has had pallets full of various winter squashes the last few weeks, and we stocked up. Next up, potimarron.
