Help! Pasture Fence?

We are almost completely out of room, but wanted to plant some gourds for the kids this year. My mom suggested planting them along the back fence. Problem being that my dad's bull herd is on the other side. I read one reply to another message that said that cows COULD eat the baby gourds, but I was wanting more input, please. What are the chances of getting enough gourds for the Cub/Girl Scouts if we plant them in reach of the cows?

i grow all my gourds on the fence around our barn yard. the cows not once offered to eat them. they grew really good because they had plenty of fertlizer (cow manure). cinjo from indiana

Wow thanks so much for posting this question gabet! I have been wondering this for a while. I want to plant some gourds and really have any place except the fence next to the pasture. I was going to tie some extra tomato cages against the fence on the cow side to prevent them from getting to close. Good luck with your gourds too!
