Marina di Chiogga squash and other maximas

Hi,
I have experienced growing only one other C. Maxima, the Queensland Blue two years ago. It *seemed* to prefer when the weather was cooler, i.e. in the high 60s and low 70s. It wilted easily in higher heat.
Is this characteristic of most Maximas? If so, I'm planting out early so that my Marina Di Chiogga will have the benefit of growing during the cooler early summer months.
Please advise.
