Shrunken gourds

This past summer was my first attempt at growing gooseneck gourds. I left them on the vine until all foliage died back and well past the first frost. I dried them hanging from some wood on my deck all winter. They never went through a moldy phase...perhaps a spot here and there but never all over. The skin and layers just shed itself in the wind. Half of the gourds shriveled before completed drying. Are these ruined or worth preserving for decoration? The other two are fine. I don't even need to wash them off. Should I try a different drying technique this year?
