I pinched back my gourd seedlings. Did I kill them? I was hoping to just stunt them. This is only my 2nd yr growing gourds. At the time pinching back seemed reasonable but now I'm starting think I made a big mistake.

I know that I pinch mine back but when they are about 10' long? Hummm...Don't really know if pinching them back as seedlings will kill them but it may just slow them down a bit? Sorry I couldn't be of more help. Penny

Never pinched back gourds. Just let them do their thing. Good luck, Lisa

Most male gourd flowers tend to be on the main stem, so that's why you let it grow 6-10 ft long before you pinch it to make more secondary vines which produce mostly female flowers. Maybe the plants will somehow make up for it. But Lisa is right that you don't pinch gourd seedlings. Sue
