If your soil isn't dry below the surface I'd hold off on watering. Your pumpkins should be putting down deep roots, which will make them drought resistant. If watered too frequently, they probably won't put those roots as deeply. If, however, you are in a drought and not receiving rain, then I'd recommend a deep watering every week or two, depending on ambient temperatures.
