| I had 1 of 4 cantaloupe plants die, and now I have a spot I'd like to plant a gourd in. In the past I thought about luffas, but have never had the opportunity. What is a good beginner gourd? Is it too late to sow directly? I live in NE Oklahoma.
Thanks,

| Luffas require a very long growing season and likely aren't the best for you at this time. I would plant any ornamental gourd seed. You will get an abundance of fruit and they are quick to mature. Ornamental gourds are the small colorful ones, not to be confused with the hard-shelled gourds that are primarily just green and relatively large. You should still be able to sow directly in your area. |
