blossom drop on 'tromba d'Albegna' squash

Last year my zucchini didn't do so well, and I thought it might have been the squash vine borer. This year I planted some 'trombetta' climbing squash, and it's climbing up the trellis like crazy.

It has had about a dozen blooms so far, and several have dropped off. I have harvested one squash from the entire plant, and there's one more on there right now ripening. There are several flower stems sticking out with no flowers now. (See Picture)

Any causes for blossom drop? doesn't appear that anything is eating them, and the plant looks otherwise vigorous.

By the way, I cooked the squash last night; delicate flavor, delicious, texture slightly firmer/less watery than zucchini. The link is to the source of the seeds, and its description of the plant.

Here is a link that might be useful: tromba d'Albenga
