Pollenless sunflowers still attracts pollinating bugs?

We were at the seed place buying sunflowers because we read that they help attracts the moths needed to pollinate gourds (cause we dont want to be in our gourd patches in the middle of the night doing it ourselves) so do pollenless sunflowers still attract the moths we need?

I would think they should, as insects are often attracted more to color than anything else. For instance, you can coat bright yellow motor oil bottles (Valvoline???) with clear oil or tanglefoot & trap whiteflies.

The fact that the plant is pollenless may DISAPPOINT the insect, so he will be looking for other plants, too. I believe the sunflowers attract the beneficial insects to the area, then they look all around for pollen or nectar.

"Oh, look! Gourds! Let's go!"
