My Pumkin Patch

As of this morning my winter squash are now planted.

In the 3 Sisters Garden I have 3 hills each of Lumina, Jarrahdale, Argonaut, and Long Island Cheese. The orange flags are the squash hills.

In the pumpkin patch I have 2 hills of Lumina, 2 hills of spaghetti squash, two hills of Argonaut, and one hill of Jarrahdale. I have to mulch between the hills.

And over by the birdbath, where I moved a couple old compost piles that were exposed to street view when we cleared some brush, I have some oddly-planted things.

I ran out of seed for the varieties I wanted and grabbed some of the very last winter squash left at Lowes. They were two mixed packages so I tried to sort them out by probable varieties.

Under the birdbath is probably Jarrahdale, and out of the picture, downhill from the birdbath, is probably Lakota, next to that is probably Butterbush, and last in line is probably Small Sugar.

In a raised bed I have a hill of Carnival and another hill of spaghetti squash.

Now I have to hope that the vines will stay ahead of the borers that are already attacking the summer squash.
