Nest Eggs going gangbusters/corsicans and bird houses going bust

The subject says it all.... i am seriously cutting the nest egg vines to get them to stop producing so much (plethuras of happy little nest egg gourds), but the corsicans and bird houses are a different story: the fruits start, then they turn brown and die.

Any ideas as to what is going on?

(gourd newby here. not sure if i am missing information you need to know to id the issue)

when did yours start blooming? do they have the separate male and female flowers. mine just started blooming
