 o
Variegated shoot on gourd

I have a hard shell gourd plant (not sure which one until fruit sets) that suddenly developed a runner with perfectly shaped, healthy looking, gorgeously variegated green and white leaves.

Does anyone know if it would be possible to root this part of the plant? I'd be willing to keep it under lights through the winter if this was possible.

OR, if this runner sets fruit and I can mature it (not always easy this far north), does anyone know if the resultant seeds might pass on the variegated trait?

Thanks in advance,

Kate
