It is a winter squash, like the butternut. same rules apply. Harvest when fully mature (skin is hard and stem is hard and dry) I usually wait as long as possible ( watch for critters nibbling)

Thank you farmerdilla. I appreciate the advice and will give them time to mature. The weather here has been producing a jungle of vines in the garden and these plants and squash are growing unbelievably fast! I also planted trombocino for the first time this year and it is a real squash factory too. It is a lot of fun for me to go to the garden to see what happening with the squash.....:-)
