Did you guys know that historically, putting a pumpkin on your porch meant that you were wealthy? It showed the neighbors that you were so well off that you could use a nutritious food item for decoration rather than sustenance. I thought that was cool, and it makes complete sense! Funny when you think about how traditions start!

I also learned that technically all pumpkins and gourds are edible, just some are more tasty than others! Maybe you all knew this already but it was news to me. :)

Then the darn so and sos who would steal and smash them must have really been wealthy!!! :)
