Squash / cobnut - No male flowers - female ready

HI, I am a virgin squash/pumkin grower - 1st year.

Just found out that my pumkins were shrivelling and dropping off because of lack of pollination - so i have become a pollenator there.

Now, my squash (cobnut on packet). One plant has a lovely female flower - but it doesnt look like there are any male flowers ready at all. so I pollenated with a pumkpin male flower....

Are the squash male flowers just tiny or do female come first? With a pumkin they seem to flower together.

any help much appreciated, thanks.
