How did this happen? Is it possible? I have three egg gourd vines, with a bunch of egg gourds, but there are 3 which look like as cross between an egg gourd and zucchni.

Is this because I have some zucchni in the garden this year,or maybe the seeds I bought were open pollinated???? I know hard shell gourds will cross pollinate and the mixed genetics will show up in the next generation. Is this true for ornamentals as well?

Then the next questions are.............Are they edible?..........or can I dry them like a gourd? So much fun....
