I had the same idea a few years back to grow the triple treat pumpkin plants in containers. The two that were in separate 15 gallon containers( the supersized round jumbo heavy duty storage container type) had a few fruits each but they didn't mature enough by late September to keep. Full sun and ample fertilizer. Vines were not long at all 7 to 8 ft, not long compared to c. maximas type squash with their 12 to 17 ft vines. They tasted great immature though stewed. The pumpkins were small( 7 inches across pale light orange) but dense and heavy. Sweet and fine grained. The one in my garden had two pumpkins. Both were darker orange and even sweeter. They were eaten within the month. The plant was more robust too. I think if you give the vines space to sprawl and soil to root at the nodes, the plants grow bigger and stronger = better yields.
Triple treat is so good that I had just placed an order from Burpees for next year's patch. And it's still July! The funny thing is that during that year I had no problems with squash borers, but this year was terrible.
