Should I trim gourd branches?

My one good plant is producing lots of females, some of them are just turning brown and falling off, 3 or 4 are developing nicely.

On the long branches with the nice ones, should I trim back the branch past the gourd? These seem to be the ones that have the females turning brown even before they flower.

There is no reason to trim the vines past the forming gourds. Not every flower will become a gourd. You have 4 now the vine needs to grow some more before it can support more than 4 fruit. Trimming the vines would slow this process down by several weeks.
