The pictures are small and I can't see much but the leaves look fine. Old leaves die this is natural. All the leaves will not remain on the plant until fall. I can't really see the picture of the stem, but stems get woody looking this is also natural. As long as the growing tips look healthy and you are getting flowers and fruit be happy.

In addition to the above, it wouldn't hurt to mound up some soil or compost around the base of the stem. The plant can grow new roots in that area to help support its mature growth.
