Pumpkins, Squash & Gourds

What type of squash is this?!

We did not plant this...it popped up in our garden from our compost we used as filler. This is out compost that we do ourselves. Anyway...it's the color of Acorn Squash but it's massive! Here are some pics of it. We or in the DFW are in Texas. It has taken over our garden with a runner.

My first thought is an over grown zucchini.

It looks like a pumpkin/zucchini cross, a zumpkin.
I would think you can either pick it young and eat it like a zuke, or let it grow and ripen orange like a pumpkin. From the look at the insides, it looks like it was not quite ripe yet. Probably good for making pumpkin bread.
