Squash Flower question

Hi,

I couldn't find too much when I searched the site so here goes :)

I have 2 varieties of squash growing - butternut and delicata - and the variety I'm concerned about (delicata, I think) blooms just fine, but then something tears off and eats/partially eats the flowers at night or early morning. They are growing in raised beds surrounded by concrete patio tiles. The other squash, pumpkin, and cucumber plants and flowers seem fine.

I know deer are not an issue (suburbia, bounded by freeways). The only possibilities I can think of are racoons and squirrels, but I don't know what damage pattern each have. I am in California (Bay Area).

Does anyone have a 'best-guess', ideas, or other information that might help?

Thanks!
