Pumpkin bulbs shriveling up

Many of the bulbs on the females are shriveling up before the flower is mature enough to open and be pollinated. Does anyone know what causes this? I have quite a few that are staying healthy but more than half are shriveling and falling off. Not sure how to post picture yet. New here. Thanks!

by no means do i have experience or anything, i'm a first year pumpkin grower too. i was experiencing the same thing. the bulbs would shrivel and die. somebody explained it could be too hot for them.

it finally cooled down here that my first flower opened today and was pollinated. i'm just dreading it getting hot again, its supposed to in a few days. i hope it doesnt die
