| I am growing spaghetti squash for the first time and I'm not sure when they are going to be ready to harvest. I currently have 8 spaghetti squash fruit set. The first one was pollinated at the beginning of July. It has been growing steadily since then. It is now really big. I've also noticed that the squash have been a white color and now this large one is turning a pale yellow. I went to the grocery store earlier today and when I walked past the spaghetti squash, the ones in the store look smaller than the one I have and they are that same shade of pale yellow.
Does the stem/vine turn brown and pull away from the squash or is there some other distinctive feature that I should be looking for to know whether or not it is done? I thought August 1 was kind of early to harvest spaghetti squash, but it looks done to me. But what do I know? Thanks for any advice! |

| if your squash is a buttery yellow color it is ready to harvest. size depends on your personal taste. also the stem in most cases will turn brown and the skin will start to harden as well. |

| At this time it is unlikey they will grow any bigger so the end of september is a good time. But the smaller ones you can leave and see if they grow any bigger until the leaves fade away round about mid october. |
