covering up pumpkins

Hello! Last year, I grew beautiful zukes and cucs and pumpkins. but, all of them lost the battle of the bugs. The pumpkins were the worst. There were so many squash bugs I couldn't keep up with killing them. Eventually, they ate holes in all my pumpkins. It was very sad. So, this year, I said no squash! ... except just one pumpkin plant. He's been growing under a row cover, keeping him safe for as long as possible. But, when he starts to flower, I'll uncover him. At this point, however, I'm more worried about the fruit and wondering if there are bags or covers I could put around the actual fruit while it's on the vine to prevent the bugs from eating holes in them. I say this because surely all those hundreds of squash bugs I couldn't kill went some where during the winter... and they should all come back, right? and with only one plant.... it'll be like stealing candy from a baby... :( any thoughts?
