Where's the pollen???

Hi all! I've got a lovely yellow squash plant, and it's doing fantastic - tons of female flowers and male flowers, big happy leaves - it looks great. Except, I swear, it does not produce pollen. Or at least, I've never seen any on it. Not a speck. Is this possible? I really don't think bugs are stealing it all. I went out early the other morning to see a new male flower as early as possible, and, yep, no pollen. It couldn't have been open for more than an hour when I saw it.

Obviously, fruit is not setting. Am I crazy to think that it's just not making pollen? Any ideas for what I could do to encourage it to produce pollen?

Ooooh putting a bag over it - that is smart. I shall try that. It's so funny because we have several zucchini plants (just the one squash), and they all have tons of pollen - the squash is just ALWAYS picked clean! Thanks for the tip.
