I picked two pumpkins today--pic

I cannot believe I grew these pumpkins, my first time! The plant started from the seed of a store-bought pumpkin which was thrown in the compost heap. There was little space in the garden for a pumpkin, so I trained it outside the garden and down the asphalt alley, sitting the pumpkin in the alley on a styrofoam meat tray to protect it from the hot asphalt. I see a couple more coming, but many started and then shriveled, so I'm not sure if the vine is finished. The left one weighs in at 20 lbs. and has a 29" "waist."

That's what I was thinking, weird. We rarely get frost, and it's warm well into October, altho' the days are shorter. Thanks for the input. Hope I get one or two more.

Not sure about curing, but they are sitting in the shade on pots so they don't get wet on the bottom. Hope this works. When I buy Halloween pumpkins at the store, they are still sitting on the door step at New Years--seem to last forever and longer, so I hope these do too. Two more are on the vine.
