Help! Now It's Ground Hogs

I had seen these (3) ground hogs around the neighborhood, and even running across my yard, but they had never bothered anything before. This morning, I startled one by the fence and when I went to check on my plants, this ground hog had eaten off all the leaves of that one plant (I mean a dozen or more leaves-- just stripped it bare!) Any suggestions for keepiing them away??????

there are several strategies that my family has experimented with . we live on a farm and we deal with the little boogers a lot. You can trap them set out antifreeze (not recommended if you have other pets) my dad tried bubble gum one year dont know what that was suposed to do. Dried blood might turn them away also. Its just another garden menace that has to be dealt with.
