RE: At least they are easier to find!

I have left a few of the less desirable pumpkins in the middle of the patch and in the evening the squash bugs gravitate toward them. Then I hit them with the soap and water spray. Rough year, and I started early and diligently to control them :/

OMG get the vacuum cleaner! What ARE those? I assume they are bad.

Pretty pumpkins. I see you have a little green one in the background.

I don't think we have those in CA. Are they eating holes in the pumpkins themselves?

They usually affect the leaves. They suck the moisture/juice from the leaves. They don't really eat them. Now on the actual fruit I ave not seen them do damage but if left unchecked I am sure they could/would. I start to see them more on the fruit as there are less leaves for them to hide under etc. I just spray these with a mild soap & water solution and they die pretty quick. Be glad if you have never seen them, they can destroy a crop in quick order if unchecked.

This is the first year I've ever seen squash bugs. They're all over my zucchini plants, but the plants are almost spent anyway. I wonder if they were attracted to the acorn squash plant next to the zukes. It's the first time I've grown those, but the bugs seem to like the zuke leaves better.
