Lucky you! They're beautiful. My one gourd plant just took off growing a few weeks ago and then I looked out and saw little baby gourds! So happy until I saw then turning brown and falling off the vine!!!!

So, I've been trying to hand-pollinate some with what little I know about it-------since I think this is the problem. No bees. We have butterflies but no bees.

cleaned 7 gourds at carwash today. Put on soap and took 18 minutes to clean all gourds. Saved me hours doing by hand. Lynne cost:$4.00

Cleaning gourds at the carwash... well I have to say it's original, but to me, the most wonderful part of growing gourds is cleaning them myself by hand and seeing the gourd emerging bit by bit, mold patterns intact. It's like opening a Christmas present. To me, that's priceless. :)

Just curious - did you count how many gourds you ended up with? Did you get them all down from the poles?

I didn't count them acurately because I picked and stashed them at several times. I ended up with about 100 more or less not counting the topmost gourd which was out of reach. I have made some birdhouses and bird feeders but have plenty to experiment with. Thanks for asking.
