Harvest or leave in the field?

I have a lot of pumpkins that are mostly to completely orange that I plan to harvest this weekend but still have some that are still turning or are mostly green so just wondering if I should harvest them also or leave them in the field? The vines are starting to die and dry up mainly because of dry conditions I think but there is also green vines left as well. My main concern about leaving them is deer damage. I started seeing damage about 3 weeks ago so I put a radio and scarecrow out and that has kept them out until the other night when I seen some fresh damage again. One thought I had if I left the green ones in the field was to loosely wrap the pumpkin with chicken wire or something similar to try and prevent the deer from biting into the pumpkin, would it work, I don't know? Any suggestions are welcomed!
