Giant Pumpkin First Aid?

While I was moving my Dill's Giant Pumpkin into the back of the van, I accidentally wounded it. I put a small cut into the front side. It's about 3 inches long and 1/8" wide. It doesn't go too deep, but it certainly breaks the skin.

Is there anything I can seal it with to try to preserve it and prevent rot? This thing's got to last 31 more days!

I've gotten scratches before, and brought the pumpkin into the warm porch (70 degrees +) and they've healed on their own ok. The more mature the pumpkin the better your luck. Hope it heals for you!!
