Can you tell me what these are??

Last fall we placed our carved and uncarved pumpkins behind the back fence before the first snow and mid summer we recognized some vines growing. We expected regular ol' orange pumpkins to come but we have 22 white warty "pumpkins" growing. The largest is about the size of a cantelope and they are growing well. I've googled endlessly to get more info on what they are but can't find a thing. I do remember we had one orange warty (knucklehead I believe they're called after searching) that we placed back there but it obviously wasn't white. Could they turn orange eventually ya think? I have plenty of great photos but don't see a place to upload them into a post. Any thoughts are greatly appreciated as the whole family is excited to have "accidentally" grown these. the kids have each one photographed, numbered and named already and some are still no bigger than a walnut. I would love to be able to tell them what they actually are.

Whomever you got the knucklehead from probably grew luminas (white pumpkins)also. They cross pollinated and now you have a white knuckle head!

now worky, i think you got some cross bred mutant. the one you got on the bottom left is pretty cool looking. my knucle heads are orange and i think the ones you have will stay white.

Hi, I think I can help you out with the likely parentage on these beauties.
Scenario one:
white pumpkin variety "cotton candy" or "Moonshine" crossed with an ornamental warty gourd. Both cotton candy and moonshine are C. Pepo's (unlike lumina, which is a C. Maxima) and will cross with ornamental gourds.

Scenario 2: Knuklehead crossed with a small white gourd or small white pumpkin(baby boo) or even cotton candy. The size is about correct for either cross. Both crosses would have occured last year in the field or garden of the person that grew them.

The white skin gene is dominant over orange or green so it would make sense that all or most of these are white or off-white. Also, they may get slightly more off-white/buff as they ripen up. I have tried all kinds of pumpkin crosses and you have a very cool one!
ps. if you save the seed and grow next year some of the orange may come back, since it is a recessive gene, but still I would be 95% will be white or off-white.
