Does the little acne you see mean it's a gourd? Better question can I make pumpkin pie out of gourds?

No, you can't make a pumpkin pie out of a gourd. Nor can you make a gourd pie from a pumpkin. However, you can make a squash pie from a squash, which is more similar to a pumpkin than a gourd.
(that is you can use a winter squash to make a squash pie) and that is very good. You can make it with the same recipe as the pumpkin pie, and some folks won't know the difference.

the little "acne" probably only means that it is a warted gourd. There are all kinds of kinds. :o)
