How Long Are Seeds Viable?

HoosierCheroKee

A friend who has since passed away gave me some gourd seeds that are now at least three years old ... maybe four.

He said they were apple gourds, but the two I grew out in 2004 were much larger and longer although they had the right color and texture. I kind of liked them as the vines were extremely aggressive and verdant.

How long will the original seeds be viable? They are dry and not moldy, and kept in an amber plastic bottle in a drawer in my garage.
