Pumpkins, Squash & Gourds

If neck is rotting ----

I bought some swan-shaped gourds and had a feeling they were harvested too early. Now they are getting all moldy and starting to dry out, but some of the necks are rotting.

My question is: Will the rest of the gourd dry so I can at least use the bottom of it, or will the whole gourd rot? I plan to make planters out of them and prefer to have the neck but could just use the bottom if possible.

If the neck is rotting, then the whole thing will probably rot.
If its just mold, and the gourd is drying, (getting lighter in weight)just wait and see. The mold is a natural thing in the drying process.
Otherwise, you may want to find some already dried gourds for your planters.
