Gourds on concrete....Thanks Jan !!!

Well, my gourds seem to be doing just nicely drying on an old concrete pad that we used to have a shed on . MANY THANKS again Jan !

So far i have about 120 gourds out there drying . One of the smaller ones already "rattles" some when I shake it, but it still needs some drying time yet. I can tell that the seeds aren't quite seperated inside . More clumped together.

My biggest gourd measures in at 46 " around ! Boy was I wrong ! I estimated it about 36" around. I have several more in 40" -43" around range . Woo Hoo!

I still have about 20 or so smaller gourds that just aren't ready to come off the vine yet . I suspect that the much cooler nights that we're having right now will soon convince them otherwise ! LOL

I'll try to get some pics up soon, just in case anyone is interested in how a newbies' gourds in Coastal N.C. are progressing .

Wow-that's great. My gourd plants didn't produce much this year due to the drought we've experienced. I'm already looking forward to next year's crop.

I'm a newbie, too, Jay. I'd love to see your photos.

I'm still keeping my fingers crossed and hoping I get some brown stems. It has been very pleasant & sunny during the day, but cold at nite. The apple gourds are still on the vine! There are lots of gourds, but only 2 or 3 that I think have a chance at maturity. Or, is it too late already?
