 o
birdhouse gourd question

My birdhouse gourds got frost on them, they weren't picked yet. Can I still make birdhouses out of them or are they ruined? There are still some green ones on the vines. If I pick them, any chance that they turn white, and be alright?
I live in zone 4, in Wisconsin.
Thanks for any help

RE: birdhouse gourd question

The frost won't hurt the gourds at all. Just leave any of them on the vine until the stems are brown and hard. Cut them from the vine leaving about 4 inches on the gourd. Store them outside, or where they will have some ventilation. Check them every two or three weeks and throw out any that are soft and rotting.

Good luck
Jan
