Luffffffffffa! Questions about harvest.

My luffa gourds as of right now are on their vines. We had our first drop down to freezing last night. The vine is pretty much killed- it was grown as a large mass on like 8 tomato cages, and the inner "canopy" of leaves is still green, buth otherwise, yeah it's gone. I'm trying to figure out how/when to pick them and how to prepare them for sponge use. I've got luffa on there all the way from two feet long to a few inches long. some feel... spongey? when I squeeze them. Some don't. But none are brown, or dry, that's for sure. I don't know which ones to bother with, or how to treat them. I've heard you can use little guys for softer purposes. I'm cool with that, any little bit I can squeeze out of this venture is okey dokey artichokey. I've found a lot of conflicting information over the internet. Could you help me out? I'd be pleased as pie.

Do I pick them now?

Which ones do I bother with? Considering the variable sizes / maturity.

How do I treat smaller ones?

How to I treat the ones that are larger / more mature?

Thanks for your help guys!
